The Chromecast app doesn’t have anything similar for live video. Vizio’s app even tries to provide a universal watch list, a concept that’s sorely missing from other streaming devices. Update apps on a Vizio VIA or VIA Plus TV. Vizio VIA, or Vizio Internet Apps, was the original system for adding apps to Vizio smart TVs. It was the route most TV manufacturers took by installing the app directly onto the TV. These models do require an app update.
This is the issue: We can access wifi fine. It says 5 bars. Router is next to TV. The Netflix button works-can watch Netflix just fine. The issue is the Vizio apps. Not only can I not get the settings for the apps to come up, now when I push the Vizio button on the remote, and the apps bar comes up, but when I press 'ok' on say, Youtube, a side picture comes up telling us we need to connect to a network. When I check connection, it says I can't download.and yet I can watch Netflix just fine.

I have changed the DNS and alternate DNS to '8-8-8-8' and to '8-8-4-4', and it still doesn't work. I have yet to reset the set to factory standards, because I've seen conflicting info as for its value in fixing the problem. This is my second modem. It's a Gateway, and I have comcast. The other modem had an issue, so comcast switched it out without connecting my tv set. So here I am months later, thinking all I had to do was put in my wifi password, because I had zero issues connecting to the Vizio apps on my old router.
It would make some sense if NO internet worked, and yet, I can get Netflix but only using the Netflix button? (only one that works by the way.) I have a 4 year protection plan so if you experts feel its a bad tv, I will return it, but my gut instinct tells me there's just something screwy with my settings. Any help is appreciated!! This way we have 100% of the info on your end.
Frankly, Bob's advice to simply use an ethernet cable is the best/easiest thing to test out- especially if the router is right by the TV. Otherwise, hearing that only certain aspects of the software graphical interface are working out for you might very well mean it's the HDTV software. Have you also checked to see if your Vizio firmware is up to date(?) As you are finding out, yes- Vizio offers a lot of features for the price point, but at what cost(?).
